About Clever Hands
Knitting you could say is in the blood being a legacy from both my Cornish grandmother and my kiwi grandmother. Before mass produced knitted garments, they were both kept busy knitting everything for their families. First attempts at knitting happened at six years of age travelling on school bus. Many holes, dropped stitches, and grandmotherly guidance later….success!
Still back in time and several careers ago, working for a wool company lead to running freelance knitwear design business called “Annie’s Designs”. Designs featured in magazines, knitting patterns, and books including “Kidknits” and “Aussie Originals”. Then life moved on and a new career began. The creativity however did not stop….
From out of simple act of gifting original knitted creations to friends and family came this company. It was time, people said, for these knitted gifts to be shared with the world! And so Clever Hands Knitting Designs was launched. As we grow, there will be more and more fun, unique and quirky patterns to knit appearing. We’d love you to join us on our creative journey…
What we do
Here at Clever Hands we offer unique knitting patterns in 8 ply (NZ/Aus), also known as double knit (UK) and 3 or light (USA). We especially cater for new knitters, quick project knitters, and knitters with bags of leftover 8 ply scraps. Our patterns are fun, unique and sometimes quirky. Some are free and some you pay for. We hope you’ll enjoy the journey, the choosing, the knitting, and the wonderful satisfaction of saying “I made this….”.
